Long before I bought my first Charlotte Tilbury product, I had a wish list. It was a long list that constantly got added to! Thanks to some very thoughtful (okay, specifically requested!) vouchers for Christmas/birthdays and some saving on my part, I finally got my beautiful collection well under way and in this post, I want to share with you the products I think everyone should have in their collection. I will be writing individual blog posts on some of these bits so I won’t go into too much detail here about them.
My first and probably my absolute favourite product is the Filmstar Bronze and Glow contour palette. It’s simply beautiful! It comes in two shades, Light to Medium and Medium to Dark. I’ve got the Light to Medium one so that’s what you’re seeing here. In true Tilbury style, the rose gold art-deco style packaging is pure luxury. The “Sculpt” shade can be used to contour and/or bronze the skin and has a slight shimmer to it but don’t worry, the shimmer is very subtle and just serves to add a beautiful natural sun-kissed glow to the skin. The “Highlight” is simply stunning, again, it has shimmer but it’s not chunky or glittery, it just gives perfect light reflection to the skin. I adore the subtlety of this product on the skin and I think that’s what makes so universally flattering. Big thanks to my pal and fellow CT junkie Joanne from Lipstickn_leopardprint blog for the photo, I don’t know why, but I never took photos of mine before digging in so she kindly let me use one of her lovely photos.
Next up is the Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder. I didn’t understand the hype around the product until I got it myself. It’s a beautifully finely milled powder that feels like silk to the touch. It claims to have a blurring effect on the skin and it definitely does, it just makes your skin look flawless. I have large pores and am oily and I find this powder minimizes my pores and lasts really well throughout the day. One tip I would give, because it’s so finely milled, a lot of people have said they go through it very quickly and lose a lot of product when swirling their brush in it – so don’t swirl your brush! If you lay your brush flat into the powder and roll your brush back and forth instead you’ll coat the brush with powder without throwing up and wasting excess powder. Use a patting motion on the skin too to minimize fallout. This is one powder I will definitely repurchase!
Surprisingly for an eyeshadow lover like myself, I was never too blown away by Charlotte’s eyeshadow quads, I have a few but at €50.00 I always felt they were a bit expensive. The Pillow Talk Instant Eye Palette is another story altogether! Divided into four 3-shadow looks, Day, Desk, Date and Dream, it’s a beautiful soft pink toned palette and you’ll be delighted to hear, it contains a lot of mattes! With 12 shades, you will be able to create a lot of different looks with this palette, her eyeshadow formulas are beautiful and glide on and blend so easily, I think this would be fabulous investment (it’s €75.00 to buy) Now as I write this, the palette is limited edition so here’s hoping it will be introduced as a permanent member of the CT family, it definitely deserves to be!
The Hollywood Flawless Filter has already achieved cult status and rightly so, everyone should have this! Advertised as a “customisable complexion booster with the versatility of a primer” it is basically a highlighter and primer in one and can be used in a myriad of ways – it can be worn alone on bare skin, all over the face as a primer under makeup (or just on the high points of the face if you’re oily and don’t want to glow too much), mixed in with foundation or tapped on to high points of the face after makeup application. It comes in a good range of shades too and in my opinion is worth the €40.00 price tag.
No blog post of Charlotte Tilbury favourites would be complete without talking about her lipsticks, they are iconic and I adore them! They generally fall into two finishes, the K.I.S.S.I.N.G. range being the glossy finish and the Matte Revolution being, well, the matte finish! Now, controversially, Pillow Talk is not my favourite lipstick by Charlotte and if you’re purchasing her lipsticks for the first time, some of my favourites are Bitch Perfect, Stoned Rose, Amazing Grace, Coachella Coral, Amazing Amal, The Queen and Tell Laura. Okay, I know that’s a LOT of favourites but I do honestly love them all! If you are on Instagram, I’ve actually done a try-on of all the shades I have, it’s saved to my highlights so feel free to check it out here.
Now Charlotte Tilbury does have other great products too, I’m just listing the ones here that I think will make you love the brand and make you want to try more – maybe I’ll do a part 2, keep your eyes peeled!
